Search Functionality Guide
This page explains how to use the search feature on www.mibnet.se to find the information you need
quickly and accurately.
What is Searchable?
The search engine allows searching the following content from every page on the website:
- Page title. The main heading and title of each page
- Page descriptions. The Meta descriptions and summaries for each page
- Full page content. All visible text content and image text descriptions on the page
The search uses full-text indexing with relevance ranking.
The most relevant pages according to ranking appear first,
based on how well they are deemed to match your search terms.
How Results Are Displayed
What You See in Each Page Result:
- Page title. The name of the page (as a clickable link)
- Contextual snippets. Excerpts showing where your search terms appear in the content
- Highlighted terms. Your search words, and similar words, are highlighted in yellow
- Match count. Total number of times your search terms appear on the page
- Relevance score. How well the page is deemed to match your query (higher is better)
- Page URL. The web address of the page
Results show up to 3 contextual snippets per page,
giving you a preview of different sections where your search terms appear.
Telling how many more snippets were found, but as a number, not shown as an excerpt.
Basic Search
Simple Word Search
Type the words you want to find, for example:
house. Finds pages containing "house" or similar (similar words required)heat pump. Finds pages containing both "heat" AND "pump"
(all words required, independent of order)kayak lake sweden. Finds pages with all three words (in any order)
Automatic Wildcard Matching
The search automatically finds word variations, in simple base forms:
house - Finds: house, houses, housing, housed, household, etc.
Case Insensitive
Search is case-insensitive, so the below searches are identical:
HEAT PUMP = heat pump = Heat Pump
Advanced Search Operators
For more advanced searching, you can use Boolean operators for precise control:
Exact Phrase Search
"air-to-air heat pump" - Finds the exact phrase (words in this exact order)
Required Words (+)
+heat pump - "heat" MUST appear, "pump" is optional
Excluded Pages with Words (-)
heat pump -air - Find "heat pump" but exclude pages mentioning "air".
This is quite aggressive, if air is matched on the page, the page is excluded.
Wildcard Search (*)
hous* - Finds: house, housing, houses, etc. (explicit prefix matching)
Note: Wildcards only work at the end of words, and words must be at least
3 characters before the *.
Combining Operators
+"heat pump" -air efficiency - MUST have "heat pump" (exact phrase), must NOT have "air",
and should have "efficiency"
Search Tips
✓ Do:
- Improve search by using specific terms. If "heat pump" finds too much,
then "air-to-air heat pump" might be more relevant
- Try variations. If "kayaking" yields no results, try "kayak"
- Use multiple keywords. More words = more precise results
- Check spelling - The search looks for exact matches
✗ Don't:
- Use very short words. Words under 3 characters are ignored
- Use common words only. Words like "the", "and", "is" are filtered out
- Over-complicate. Simple searches might be more predictable
